Prekese fruits, also known as Tetrapleura tetraptera, are distinctive African pods treasured for their aromatic and flavourful properties. This authentic set of 10 pods brings the essence of West African cuisine directly to your kitchen. These dark, woody pods feature a unique ribbed structure with four distinct wings running along their length, making them instantly recognisable. Traditionally used in Ghanaian and Nigerian cooking, prekese adds a complex flavour profile that combines sweet, bitter, and slightly smoky notes to soups, stews, and herbal preparations. The pods release their rich aroma when added to simmering dishes, infusing broths with depth and character. Beyond culinary applications, prekese has been valued in traditional practices across West Africa for generations. To use, simply rinse the pods and add them whole to your cooking pot, or break them into smaller pieces for a more intense flavour release. Each pod can be reused multiple times before losing its potency. These authentic prekese pods offer home cooks and food enthusiasts an opportunity to explore traditional African flavours and create dishes with genuine cultural heritage.
