The common hazel of the birch family is a branchy, vigorously growing shrub reaching up to 4 m in height. The branches have a dark gray bark, the leaves are oval-shaped, short-tailed, serrated and rough. The shrub grows in the temperate zone and between the temperate and subtropical zones. In Poland, it occurs as undergrowth in deciduous and mixed forests. Hazel leaves have a medicinal meaning. Hazel - according to the literature, hazel leaves have properties that have been used to alleviate the following ailments: Recommended internally for the treatment of varicose veins (including haemorrhoids) and circulatory disorders. The same decoction in external use can be used for compresses and couplings for purulent wounds, ulcers, pimples and eczema. Finally, sitz baths in the same decoction bring relief in the case of hemorrhoids. Hazel leaves have scarring properties, especially in skin diseases. A METHOD OF PREPARING: Make a decoction of the leaves (pour 1 teaspoon of crushed dried herbs over 1 cup of water and boil, covered, for 3-5 minutes, then strain and, if necessary, drink 1/2 cup 2-3 times a day).
