1.2 General The LMIV introduced mandatory information on sewing value declaration, instructions for use and information on the country of origin for goods from abroad. This information must be applied to all pre-packed foods, even if they are intended for further processing (for the definition of "pre-packed food", see Art. 2 paragraph 2 letter. e LMIV). Before the LMIV comes into force, this information only had to be declared on packaging intended for the end user. The labelling requirements of the LMIV are essentially also mandatory for non-pre-packaged food (so-called "loose goods"), whereby certain exceptions apply here. For example, these products do not require the requirement to label nutrition. The food operator, under whose name or company the food is marketed or if it is not located in the EU, is the importer. According to item 8 paragraph 3 LMIV are also second place for food entrepreneurs in other sales stages, as they are not allowed to bring food that do not meet the requirements of the LMIV into the market. The information regarding food is mandatory according to the LMIV must be applied to food packaging or on a label attached to it. Furthermore, the mandatory information must be written in an "easy-to-understand language" for consumers of the respective Member State where a food is marketed. In Germany, the labelling must be carried out in German (compare 2 LMIDV). For products with a foreign declaration, this means that they must be provided with an additional label in the form of a sticker with the information in German. Additional labelling is unnecessary if the product is printed in multilingual and the German labelling meets the requirements of the LMIV
